Duck Lake is in a chain of lakes that go all he way to Grand Lake. Think of a trip from Springfield to Princeton; it can be done with a few carries.
Years ago, before any children, we spent the night at the head of Grand Lake with Joan and Lawarence Cobb.
We but Roy's canoe into a lake near Springfield and went through several lakes to arrive at Grand Lake. Spent the night in a sleeping bag on a pile of rocks and tree roots and plenty of mosquitos.
My last and only adventure into the wild.

Oh no it isn't your last adventure into the wilds of Maine. You must come help us build a cabin or two.

David says:

Good retort, Susan. The spring time would probably be the best time to travel from lake to lake without having to portage as often.
