From Virginia to Maine....

Killer tomatoes have arrived and may take over the world. Mine showed up with new pickles and dry beans. Yippee!

Emily has had the same problem with tomatoes. They are everywhere!!!

She turned her tomatoes into this lovely dish.

She also made a tomato pie! Em, I want the recipe for this square pie.
Here is what I'm making with my tomatoes this weekend:
Chicken and Bean Stew:
-2 tablespoons olive oil
-4 boneless skinless chicken breats cut in small pieces
-1 large onion chopped
-2-3 cloves garlic minced
-1/2 green pepper chopped
-1/2 yellow or red pepper chopped
-bunch of killer tomatoes chopped or one 28-once can stewed tomatoes
-1 15 ounce can cooked pinto beans, drained and rinsed
-3/4 cup medium heat salsa
-1 talbesppon ground cumin
-1 tablespoon hili powder
-salt and pepper to taste
Heat the oil and add the chicken, onion, garlic, and peppers and cook until chicken is done. Add tomatoes, beans, salsa, and seasonings, and cook at a simmer all together for at least an hour. Serve with sour cream and grated jack cheese.

All in the family.

Matt's family reunion was held at his sisters home on Eddington Pond.

This is their year round home on the pond.

Me and Matt's cousin, Sister Karen. She teaches at a Catholic school in Pittsfield. She is my favorite cousin.

Cousin Pam, sister of Sister Karen.

Aunt Toni.

Matt's brother Greg from Maryland. He likes to vacation in Maine each summer and frequently remind us Mainers how "back woods" we are. News flash Greg! We like being "back woods!"

Aunt Babe, mother of Sister Karen and Pam. She is one hot ticket!

Uncle Wayne, youngest brother to Matt's father.

After the reunion, we stopped by Johnny and Kim's on the banks of the Penobscot River.

This is Joe. He is famous around the neighborhood as a great hunter.

Johnny is just plain famous.

Watchin the river flow.

Big old fish!

Every Friday night the local news features a series called "Big Ol Fish" where people send in pics of their prize fish. Matt has always wanted his picture on "Big Ol Fish." Someday I intend to send in one or two. I've decided make this yet another theme to my blog.

Big old fish heads.

I love a friday night!

For the first time in two weeks, neither one of us is "on-call." No pagers going off at all times of the day and night. No call to duty! Yippee!!!

Artsy thang of the Day!!!

I've noticed that many of my fellow bloggers have an occuring theme to their blogs. These include: guess who I saw today, artsy thang of the day, and my personal favorite, "more of the same." Here is the first in my new series of pics with my new little pink camera, called, "Artsy Thang of the Day." I totally stole the idea from a fellow blogger.

Everyone should have an okay rock by their kitchen sink.

J.D. and Matt. Sid and Jackie have had bad luck with mowers lately, so Matt trims their beautiful veggie garden for them. Poetry in motion.

I made a new curtain with the left over material from the curtain Mom made while she was visiting and here is the tea cup that Mom and Dad scored on a yard sale for me.
