Silver Lake had beautiful sunsets during the month of June. We sat on the porch for hours and watched the sun set behind the hill across the lake. We had to sit on the porch because the black flies had control of the outrside. After the black flies subsided the mosquitos took over; then the minges (sp) and in the fall, a mutation black bly lasted until the frost and snow killed them. During the summer we ran on a woods road and could not keep ahead of a moose fly which lift bites as big as a walnut; they loved our head.
